01What are cookies

Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. They help the site function properly, remember your preferences, and give us insight into how the site is used, all while respecting your privacy.

Cookies can be “session” cookies (deleted when you close your browser) or “persistent” cookies (remaining until they expire or are deleted manually).

02Types of cookies we use

Necessary
One first-party cookie that remembers the choice you make here, so you are not asked again on every visit, plus three browser-storage preferences that remember whether you closed, declined or signed up through the newsletter prompt. All are set by us, all stay on our own domain, and none contains personal data or reaches a third party. The complete list is below.
Functional
Optional features provided by third parties: currently the live chat widget (Botpress). It is not loaded at all unless you switch this category on, so declining it does not affect the rest of the site. Only active if you opt in.
Analytics
Helps us understand how visitors interact with our site, so we can improve performance and content. Google Analytics is only loaded after you opt in to this category.
Marketing
Used to measure and personalise communications. Only active if you opt in.

Everything we store as “necessary”

Every cookie and browser-storage entry this site uses
cookie_consentFirst-party cookieStores which categories you allowed, and when. Four booleans and a timestamp, and no personal data.180 days
newsletter_dismissedBrowser storageRemembers that you closed the newsletter prompt, so it is not shown to you again.Until you clear it
newsletter_snoozed_untilBrowser storageRemembers that you closed the newsletter prompt for now, so it stays away for a week. A date, nothing else.7 days
skylartech_themeBrowser storageRemembers whether you chose light or dark mode with the theme switch at the top of the page, so every page opens in it. Not set if you keep the default, which follows your device.Until you clear it
newsletter_signed_upBrowser storageRemembers that you subscribed, so the prompt is not shown again. A yes/no flag, not your email address.Until you clear it

All set by Skylartech · Category: Necessary

That is the whole list. There is no session cookie, no login or account cookie, no shopping basket, no advertising cookie set by us, and no third party in the necessary category. We do not operate accounts or take payments on this site, so there is no session to keep and no basket to remember. Adding cookies for those would mean storing data this site has no use for.

The cookie_consent cookie is readable by the page, because the page has to read it in order to apply your choice. It is not marked HttpOnly, and it contains nothing that identifies you. Deleting it is a valid way to withdraw: clear it in your browser and you will be asked again on your next visit.

03Managing your preferences

When you first visit our site, you will be shown a cookie banner where you can accept all cookies, reject non-essential cookies, or open “Manage preferences” to choose individual categories.

You can change your choice at any time using Cookie Settings in the footer of every page, or the button below. Either one re-opens the panel so you can switch individual categories on or off. Clearing your browser's site data for this domain also works: the banner will simply appear again on your next visit.

04Third-party cookies

We use the following trusted third-party services that may place cookies on your device:

Botpress
Powers our live chat widget. Botpress receives the message content you send and, when you use the chat, your IP address, device and language details, approximate location (country, region, city) and page-view counts. The widget is only loaded if you opt in to functional cookies, either in the cookie settings or from the Live chat option of our chat button, and then only when you open the chat menu. Turning that category back off removes the widget from the page and reloads it, so the widget stops running entirely. It also holds its own chat state in your browser.
Google Maps
The map in our footer starts as a still image stored on our own site (from OpenStreetMap), so showing it contacts no one else and sets no cookies. Google's interactive map loads only if you press “Show interactive map”: that request discloses your IP address to Google and may set Google's own cookies, and the button says so. It loads for that map on that page only and does not change your cookie choices. The address and the “Get directions” link work without it.
EmailJS
Used to power our contact forms and send automated email responses. EmailJS may set cookies to manage session state and prevent spam.
Mailchimp
Used for our newsletter subscriptions and email marketing campaigns. Mailchimp uses cookies to track engagement with our emails and to manage subscriber preferences.
Google Analytics
Used to measure how visitors use our site. Its cookies are only set after you opt in to analytics cookies, and you can withdraw that choice at any time from Cookie Settings. Google's tag is not even requested before then.

These providers have their own privacy and cookie policies, which we encourage you to review.
